At the time of the announcement of World of Warcraft: Classic, the goal was clear: to make World of Warcraft: Classic as similar as possible to the original version of “Vanilla” World of Warcraft.
For the most part, Blizzard has done a great job, and this cannot – and should not – be dismissed. Even when they gave buffs to the modern version of World of Warcraft to aid social distancing, such as double-XP and double-reputation buffs, they avoided giving them to Classic. Of course, this was due to the fact that these buffs didn’t exist in Vanilla, and applying them could seriously threaten to throw Classic’s sensation and challenge out of the door. Blizzard seems to have put precision and loyalty to Vanilla above everything else for Classic.
Unfortunately, this means that the same problems that Vanilla suffered from have come back. One of the most pressing client issues, which we have discussed many times, is the absolutely insane queue time to access some of the most populated servers.
